Urban Outfitters! by myan soffia

Excited to have 5 new images available at Urban Outfitters

"Sunny California No. 2"

"Sunny California No. 2"

"Sunny California No. 2" details: In August 2010 I took a similar shot of this scene and it became one of my bestsellers. I thought it would be interesting to do an anniversary shot but with a different feel. So in August 2017, I went back to recapture it with a toy lens. I kept similar tones and colors but I love how different it came out with the soft blur.

"You Make My Heart Spin"

"You Make My Heart Spin"

"You Make My Heart Spin" details: We were watching one of my favorite bands, Warpaint, play at the Santa Monica Pier when I took this. My 4 year old was so excited to be at the beach and he loved the music. It's one of my favorite beach nights.

I was obsessed with the lights & shapes on the ferris wheel and all the magical carnival colors. The heart was perfect because I wanted to remember our love of the beach, our love of music and the love I have for my little family. The title & the image are dedicated to my husband and my son.

"The Wait No. 2"

"The Wait No. 2"

"The Wait No. 2" details: We were somewhere near Rancho Palos Verdes trying to find tidepools for our baby boy when we stopped here for play time. There was only one surfer out there and he was sitting there patiently waiting for waves. My husband likes to surf so I have spent time watching him patiently wait for waves as well. It always intrigued me to see how meditative it was for him and the others out there. The whole process seems so mindful. And like many other photographers, I find surfers fascinating to photograph.

"Sunset Cliffs"

"Sunset Cliffs"

"Sunset Cliffs" details: We were in San Diego in April 2017 when I took this. We were on a family vacation and it is one of my all time favorite vacations so far. I can't get enough sunset photos. And a sunset photo at Sunset Cliffs had been on my list for years! I'm happy to finally be able to mark it off.

"L.A. Noir"

"L.A. Noir"

"L.A. Noir" details: I love bokeh and I love black and white. And Los Angeles will never cease to intrigue me. While editing I remembered reading Raymond Chandler’s the Big Sleep and somehow the view and twinkly lights reminded me of his lyrical writing style and the seductive side of Los Angeles. So I decided to make this black and white.

2017 FAVORITES by myan soffia

Now that 2017 is over I have been looking through my photos from our trips last year. I am so happy we were able to revisit 3 of our favorite places: Joshua Tree, San Diego, and Sedona Arizona. It was fun to go back this time with my baby boy and to also have an upgraded camera since the last time I had visited these places.

Here are some of my favorite images from our road trips. Prints are available in my Etsy shop or directly through me, email me at Myan@MyanSoffia.com

We went to Joshua Tree last February. It was freezing outside when I took most of these shots. I remember my right index finger was frozen stiff from keeping it on the shutter button the whole time. But it was worth it! I don't think I've seen a more gorgeous sunset than the one in Joshua Tree. The desert is such a magical place.

In April we went to San Diego. The last time we were here was in 2014 when baby boy was not even a year old. We had a lot of fun then because we were visiting family but this time we had a blast because he could play in the water. He was obsessed with the beach. I mean, who isn't right? :) Coronado was hands down our favorite.

In November we went to Sedona Arizona. We first went 11 years ago. It was so much fun to have baby boy with us this time. And Sedona has changed a bit since we were last there. This time we made side trips to Jerome, Cottonwood and Prescott. Arizona is such a beautiful state.

Big Sur by myan soffia

We took a quick trip up the coast to Big Sur this past weekend. What a gorgeous place! We rented the coziest cabin with the cutest fireplace. Even though it took double the travel time because our 4 month old was not down with being in the car seat for more than 2 hours at a time, I am already planning our next family vacation there! Big Sur is the kind of place you never want to leave.
I am so excited to finally get a chance to edit some shots. Here a few from my first round. :)

101 woonideeen! by myan soffia

I just got my copy of the June/July issue of the Dutch magazine, 101 woonideeen! A few months ago there was a call for submissions to be in their Etsy supplement and I submitted my print "Surge". There were only 40 spots so I thought for sure I wouldn't get selected. But to my surprise they chose it! And they were kind enough to send a copy to all of us that were printed in the cute little booklet.
This magazine is gorgeous btw, I only wish I could read it so I could be inspired by their wonderful ideas!

And I have already had a super sweet buyer from the Netherlands who said they found my shop through the magazine. Happy Monday indeed! :)
